- The semi-automatic peptide synthesizer SAP is conceived for the synthesis of single peptides. The synthesis scale can be varied from 0.5 to 15 mmole. Seven different solvents and reagents can be pumped into the reaction flask via an eight-way valve. A digital syringe pump provides for an exact dosage of the liquids. The sprinkler specially constructed for this application allows on one hand the splash-free addition of the reagents and the spraying of the washing solution and cleaning the flask on the other hand. The infinitely variable shaker guarantees a homogeneous mixing of the reactants. The reaction flask is emptied by vacuum into a 10 liter waste bottle. The SAP controls an external vacuum pump for this purpose. Optionally, an additional valve can allow the use of house vacuum in place of the pump.
- The SAP is controlled through an external controller. The controller is equipped with an LCD display with 40 x 16 characters as well as six function keys. This is used not only for single commands (FILL, REACT, EMPTY...), but also complex programs can be created and executed. A liquid detector can be installed in the sampling neck to monitor the synthesis which shuts down the SAP in case to high liquid levels
